A river or other body of water that runs over a vertical drop or a succession of steep drops is called a waterfall. Falls can also happen when meltwater spills over the edge of an iceberg or ice shelf.
Waterfall creation is greatly influenced by erosion, which is the wearing away of the earth.
There are 108 waterfalls in India.
Kunchikal Falls, in the Shimoga region of Karnataka, is the tallest waterfall in the country.
It measures 455 meters (1493 feet) long and spans almost one kilometer. It is also Asia's second-tallest waterfall.
